SPECIAL ORAL CARE NETWORK

The SOCN is a registered society under the ROS Singapore (T20SS0180A)

It hopes to:

  1. Improve oral health competency for healthcare workers, nursing home staff, caregivers, and members of the general public - focusing on disability and elderly oral care;

  2. Provide professional recommendations and maintain competency standards within this field of oral health;

  3. Support communication and collaboration through a network of members including healthcare professionals/workers, service providers, oral health professionals, medical suppliers - to affect service development, research, and care provision;

  4. Advocate oral health equity in those who are marginalised;

  5. Establish a connection of similar societies in the South East Asia region to exchange oral care expertise and support continual learning.

FRIENDS AND PARTNERS

Tzu Chi is an international NGO founded in Hualien, Taiwan by Venerable Cheng Yen. It's Mission of Medicine seeks to "relief suffering in the sick and needy", which includes oral health for vulnerable populations.

The EPI is an African-led response to the elephant crisis and the ivory trade, protecting local communities and biodiversity. This is saving teeth beyond our species.

Happee Hearts Movement is a Singapore-based non-profit organisation supporting, advocating, and creating healthcare equality for persons with intellectual disabilities.

The Movement for the Intellectual Disabled of Singapore is one of the oldest, largest, and most established SSO in Singapore. It is building up oral health campaigns for their beneficiaries.

M.B.D is a supplier that has supported many healthcare providers for over 20 years. They have provided us with the elder friendly oral care range Oral Seven for many of our training courses!

Many communities in ASEAN face inequitable oral health outcomes, and more so for the children with disabilities. We will work on producing dental education materials to close the gap.
